In 1851, the schooner America won the world’s first international sailing regatta and earned bragging rights, glory, and a trophy to go along with it. What the sailors aboard America didn’t realize at the time was that this race would become a pillar for the sailing community and mainstay for the sport’s over a century later.

Today, teams made up of some of the world’s best sailors train year-round for a chance to claim the title as the victors of the very same regatta; which we now call the America’s Cup (in homage to the first schooner that won). In its long history, the America’s Cup has developed and changed over the years and has in recent years become the fastest, most dynamic, and most thrilling class of sailing on earth.

This year, the 35th America’s Cup is being held in the island nation of Bermuda, and ORACLE TEAM USA is looking for a chance to #ThreePeat. Watch the video below to learn about Sperry’s partnership with the America’s Cup, and our product collaborations with the Defenders from ORACLE TEAM USA and the newcomers from SoftBank Team Japan.
